A Princess No More

The princess wasn’t me.

And for once I am grateful.

I went into this agreement not really knowing what I wanted out of it.

I knew it made my parents happy that I went

And at the time that was all that mattered.

Then, I got to know all the people I was around,

Trust them, and even come to care for them.

In the end I really didn’t want to have to leave them.

I did not want to have to fulfill my obligation, my duty.

For once in my life I did not want to be the little princess.

I had realized want I wanted out of life,

I caught a glimpse of what happiness felt like

And I did not want to give it up.

My dreams had shifted.

My way was set, and I was happy.

Inspired by the last episode of Ultimate Maniac.
