I Let you Down

It felt like I betrayed you but I did not even know you were still alive.

I mourned for you and blamed myself, but I still had to go on.

If I thought for one second that you were still alive,

I would have risked everything to come back and save you.

I do not know what you have had to go through these past three years,

I can only imagine the hell of it all.

I can’t blame you for your hatred against me.

You probably don’t believe me but it was true when I said I wanted to be with you forever.

You were my life and I felt like a shell after you were gone.
