Shade

What would it be like to walk the earth alone?

Never feeling a sense of companionship

Always hungry, always thirsty.

Having no hope left for release

That there is anything more you can have

Spending eternity walking through everyone

Always feeling the pain of knowing people were there

Yet never being able to feel them

Wanting just a second to talk to anyone

A second to relieve the lonliness

Not really living, but on earth all the same.

In a different realm, all alone

Just a shell of your former self

And external image of what once was

Just a shade, lighter than the wind.

Inspired by Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark-Hunter novels.
