A Heart Lost

There once was a man

who stole my heart

ripped it from my body

and torn it apart

That man still has it

He’ll have it for all eternity

He took my soul with him when he left

And when he was gone

I sat and waited for his return

I knew he wouldn’t come

It was just too much to ask

He cast my heart aside

So that he, himself could pass

He left me here

To die alone

With no hope of rising

From my everlasting tomb.
