The Soldier and His Love

As the curtains float up

They reveal . . . it seems,

The grim reaper

Who is keeping track of the golden time.

While the minutes tick by,

I kneel before you,

a tin soldier,

giving you my heart

and professing my undying love for you,

a pale-faced girl adorned in blue satin folds

and carrying the blood red roses of her heart.

While you don’t even know me,

Don’t even see me

and all the while knowing

this serial image is just a book.

Inspired by the painting Unexpected by Ora.
